Transmetal Megatron by Firestorm
All I can say about this version of Megatron is that he's quite impressive.

His beast mode, like the first version, is a tyrannosaurus rex. This fits quite well given his personality. Whereas the first BW Megatron had a water-squirting gimmic, this Megatron has a fully articulated tail with a working pincer; I personally prefer the tail. His third mode is based on this mode: rotate his fans into place, and then flip his feet up to reveal what appear to be roller skates. The idea is that his fans provide sufficient lift to get him airborne, while those skates help him move at a considerable speed on ground. Tacky? Not quite. In the manga version of Trigun, the character Rai-Dei the Blade also has his own version of roller skates, which allow him to move at an astonishing speed.

His robot mode is what impresses me most. Why? Unlike the other two Transmetals I have with third modes (Rattrap and Cheetor), Megatron's third mode can also be used in this mode. His dinosaur legs are once again his own legs, so he can use the skates. And the section with the fans clips in place on his back, meaning that the fans can be used as well. Another major plus is that this mode has both hands; the first version had no hands at all. His tail can (with some effort) be removed from its place; it has a fold-out handle so that it can be used as a weapon. In addition, this mode is almost completely free of kibble, so that's a plus.

I have both the original Beast Wars Megatron and now Transmetal Megatron. Of the two, I'd say that Transmetal Megatron is far superior. Both of his gimmics work properly in either mode, he has almost no kibble, and he actually has proper hands instead of assorted dino bits. Not only that, but with Transmetal Megs I figured out his transform without even needing the instructions. Aside from those places that have been chromed, I'd say he's a pretty good figure. Rating: 9 / 10.

Variants: A variant of Transmetal Megs with blue chrome instead of purple has surfaced. In addition, the Japanese version does not have the painted optics. Transmetal Megatron was also re-molded for the Armada line and released as Predacon.
