19 - The Fourth Cybertronian War - The Second Million Years: Shockwave's New Plan

You have chosen the fourth war years from the Cybertron archives, a time when the Decepticon leader Megatron and Autobot Leader Optimus Prime became lost in space as the world awaited their return. Since this is a written event that has been handed down from generation to generation, some areas within the story have been modified by archival historians, they have filled in what could have occurred in those times.

We Begin....

As the second millennium passes, the Decepticons and Autobots have become passive. For it was a time of great famine on the planet, something that both sides couldn't deal with much longer. Shockwave loathed the Autobots for stealing their supplies when they obtained them, it seemed like every energon stockpile they tried to build up, the Autobots would come in and steal what they had. Now there was nothing, something had to be made to ensure their survival. Shockwave had an idea, but in order for it to happen, he had to enlist the help of the treacherous Constructicons. Still working away in the crystal mines, they saw how desperate Shockwave was for their help, they agreed to build his new idea, but only if they were allowed to be free of their punishment. He gave them what they desired. With their enslavement over, they asked him what it was he wanted to do. Shockwave told them to go to the Cybertron moons and begin construction of an energy-collecting transformer. One that could eat anything and absorb the energy within the materials, it was possible to make, but the Constructicons wanted to know what it would be used for. Shockwave told them, " It will consume metal, it will draw out the energy harnessed within the molecules, and it will be our ultimate weapon against those meddlesome Autobots! ".

The Constructicons worked away on the project, it took a long time to make, with many disappointing failures. They weren't accustomed to building new transformers out of nothing, nor having the energy requirements to complete such a project. But still, the challenge remained in them. As thousands of years pasted, Shockwave became increasingly impatient. But soon the Constructicons had a break through, and finally were able to build his energy-eating robot. But to Shockwave's surprise they had built more then just one, they had made three transformers. They told Shockwave that these transformers could multiply once fed, making them more harder to destroy, not only that, but the more energy they consume the stronger they would become. Shockwave was not happy about what they had done, but still, any advantage over the Autobots is better then nothing. Shaped like alien bug creatures they called them, The Insecticons. They were dumb, and very hungry once activated, he told them to feast on the Autobots, the sworn enemy of the Decepticons. It took a minute to sink in to their brains, but soon realized which transformers where Autobots. On the moon they occupied, Autobots had managed to remain hidden, but not anymore. The Insecticons found them, burrowing into the core of the moon and locating them in plain sight. The Autobots fought back, but soon found the new Decepticons an unstoppable threat. They signaled for help to the planet below, hoping the council of Autobots would hear them. They're transmission was jammed, mainly because the Insecticons ate the communications dish. The Autobots where made into a horrible feast for them, the insect creatures feasted upon them and collected more energy then they could stomach. Shockwave had them put into collector tubes and drained the energy out into energon cubes. There he shipped them back to Cybertron and put into storage.

Out on the second moon, more Autobot resistance fighters did hear the distress call given. Unaware of what the message was about, they sent a spy to go and locate the source. An Autobot craft named Cosmo, took the communication expert named Blaster with him, to track down the previous source of the message. They flew out and over the other moon and made a horrible discovery. There they saw the planet covered in odd robotic bug like creatures, eating the dead Autobots in plain sight. The Insections saw them hovering over the moon, and began a chase, obviously Cosmos's power signature was a tempting meal target. They started to pursue the small ship and as they approached the other moon, quickly dismissed the hard to reach Autobot, and instead, began too much away at the other moon. With no way of stopping this plague of transforming insects, the Autobot attempted to fly back to Cybertron. But no thanks to Shockwave's auto defense system, reaching the surface was harder then they all thought. Many died trying to reach the planet, but Cosmos and the other lucky few left, managed to reach their Autobot brethren. Blaster showed them what was happening, Insecticons were destroying the moons and all the Autobots on them. The Protectobots geared up for battle, but told the others on the council they might not be a match for these new Decepticons, not with such low energon. This was a serious matter, what could the Autobots do but watch the moons get eaten into extinction. Blaster was told to send an S.O.S. out into space, hoping it would reach any Autobots in the region of space they occupied. But knowing that help may not come, they all tried to find energy for the troops as they began to prepare for a major battle.

Shockwave was unaware the Insecticons where eating the moons, when he was alerted to their doings, he instantly demanded they stop. The Insecticons had multiplied into the thousands; they nearly covered all of both moons. He could see on the monitors the two planetoids where half eaten and demanded the Constructicons control their creations. They could not. The Constructicons barely made it off the moons themselves alive, the Insecticons weren't only eating the Autobots, now they also where eating the Decepticons as well. Shockwave was furious at the bumbling idiot Constructicons for creating such things, but they pointed out to him that it was his idea as well. It was up to him now to stop these creatures before they turned their sites to Cybertron, if they reached the home world, there would be no Transformer powerful enough to stop them. The Autobots had Blaster spying in on the Decepticons as the crisis unfolded for them, they could see Shockwave was in a bit of a pickle and laughed at his stupidity in creating them. But Sky Lynx wasn't laughing, he knew what was going to happen next, and if Shockwave's plan didn't work, everyone on Cybertron would be doomed. Shockwave used his primary computer, linked up with both moon's main power core computer, and ordered them to self-destruct. He sat back in his chair, slumped in defeat, and watched the monitor as the counter counted down to its destruction. Both moons blew up in a fiery inferno; everything on them was utterly destroyed in the blast. On the Decepticon monitors, nothing survived, and Shockwave soon started to begin thinking of new ways of defeating the Autobots, without having to go through that scenario again.

On the Autobot monitors, Sky Lynx was the only one viewing as the others all cheered in victory behind him. There on the view screen, he saw three lone streaks heading off into deep space. It made him wonder if the creatures had truly been destroyed, but rather then give into his fears, he joined the others in celebration. It was the first major victory the Autobots ever had since Optimus Prime left them so long ago, and they didn't even have to lift a finger. The Protectobots felt it was a mild victory, and left the party early to continue their watchful patrol. The Constructicons where sick to death of Shockwave's constant berating of their work, it was time for them to seek glory somewhere else, unknown to the temporary leader, the six transformers built a ship and blasted off into space. Omega Supreme had been keeping a watchful eye on them for a long time, he was still on a revenge binge against them, and as he saw them blast off from Cybertron, he soon transformed and followed them in pursuit. The Autobot council demanded he return at once, he was their only large defender against the Decepticon army, but he wouldn't respond back. And by the time they tried to talk to him again, he was gone from communication range. This was a major blow to the Autobot cause, now they were really weak in their defenses, and if Shockwave learned of it, it would mean the end of them all.

Shockwave was glad the Constructicons where gone, he too was sick of their constant disloyalty to Megatron. He was a much better engineer then they would ever be, and soon ended up in his lab creating more robotic fighter drones. With the energy he had collected from the moons, it was enough to lift the spirits of his fellow Decepticons, he gave them all small samples to tide them over, enough to make them stay loyal. One of the Decepticon jets reported in to bring him good news; Jetplague told Shockwave that the massive Autobot Omega Supreme was seen leaving Cybertron, which now was the time to end the Autobots. Perfect, Shockwave thought. He rallied the soldiers and gave a speech that would make them happy to sound the drums of war again. Now that they had been given a new energy boost, the time was right to, " End the Autobot Scum once and for all!! Long live the Decepticon Empire!! ". They all marched out and headed towards the Autobot sector, they blasted away at the foes and spared no mercy this round. The Autobots where surprisingly caught off guard, they fought with whatever energy they had left. They were losing badly; they had no choice but to withdraw from Iacon forever, leaving all of their bases intact for Decepticons to take over. It was a shameful scene to many, the worst defeat they've ever encountered. Sky Lynx also was very ashamed of his leadership; he was no Prime, and no leader among Autobots that's for sure.

The managed to escape far enough out of the area where the Decepticons could not track them, but it didn't matter; losing their claim on Iacon was the biggest blunder they've ever faced. The Decepticons cheered in their victory, and praised Shockwave for his wonderful leadership. They ransacked all of the Autobot's bases and permanently locked away all of their old repair shops and laboratories. Now controlling a major portion of Cybertron, the Decepticons now had become the dominant transformers on the whole planet. The minorities of Autobots where now considered terrorists, and subject for immediate execution if captured. Suddenly out of the sky, the auto defenses of Cybertron lit up, a ship was hurling itself straight into their territory, it crash landed straight into Megatron's highly prized throne room. Shockwave was devastated at the sight, he was sure to be beheaded from the leader should he return and see his throne room gone. The Decepticons focused in on the invading ship, and fired away at the intruders making their way out of the burning wreckage. It was then that Shockwave and his forces were met by the return of Ultra Magnus and Kup. They had seemed to pick up new re-enforcements of Autobots, some never looked like they'd originated from the planet, but still fought fierce as they made their way out of the city. The Protectobots had seen them coming out of the city and led the way for Ultra Magnus to the new Autobot hideout. Sky Lynx was very pleased to see Kup and Ultra Magnus again, and handed the reins of power back over to them. Ultra Magnus was very angry at the fact Iacon fell to the enemy, but couldn't blame them for not giving it their best try. Now that he and Kup were back, it was time to make the Decepticons pay for pushing them out.

As Ultra Magnus thought up of new battle plans for attacks, Kup regaled everyone around him with the many fantastic tales of their adventures. Meanwhile, Shockwave strengthened his army around Iacon, making sure it was totally armed and ready for any Autobot backlash. He knew the time was coming when Ultra Magnus would make the next strike, and try to take the city back.

And so......the years continued on......
